Introduction and Curating Concept
In order to be in concert with the developing route of “City of Design” and the policy of focusing on developing cultural industry in Dafen Village, Longgang District of Shenzhen government, to expand the influence of the 5th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair and Shenzhen Case Pavilion in 2010 Shanghai World Expo in the form of interactive sub-exhibition space, and to enrich and develop the cultural and art industry in Dafen Village, Convection · 2010 Dafen International Contemporary Art Exhibition will be held as the first attempt in its true sense to establish international communication by Dafen Village, introducing international forms of contemporary art exhibitions holding and independent curating system to finally realize the internationalization of Dafen village and to continuously build the image as a pioneering city for Shenzhen.
As the interactive exhibition space based in Shenzhen of the Shenzhen Case Pavilion in 2010 Shanghai Expo, Dafen Art Museum is also a sub-exhibition space of the 5th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair.
Based on the above, the international art communication concept of “convection” thus was selected as the theme of this exhibition. Convection is not only the form of expressing and presenting but also the essence of artistic communication and exchange. From the inside of Dafen village to the outside, and to the inside again, the oil painting industry mode from Dafen Village has been introducing to places from home and abroad. This phenomenon stimulates and influences international artists to create artworks in the theme of Dafen Village using various patterns of manifestation from different angles. In this way, Shenzhen became the most dynamic city in the globalization of Asia as well as the representative city in the process of modernization of China. As various kinds of excellent artworks themed Dafen Village came back to its origin, they employ the form of unique contemporary art events to promote the creativity exchange of all sorts of artworks and contemporary expressions inside and outside Dafen Village, and the convection of value and ideas as well as the future development of art industry.
